–The Prince George Cougars scored two late goals in the opening period to take control in a 4-1 victory over the Kamloops Blazers before 2,397 fans. 18-year-old defenceman Sam Ruopp was named Cougars captain just prior to the game. He was chosen first star with an assist and a plus four rating. Marc McNulty, with a goal and an assist, was the only Cat with more than one point. The same teams meet again this afternoon (Sunday) at 2 at CN Centre as the Cougars continue an 8-game homestand.

–Captain Austin Grey racked up six points, including two goals, helping the Cariboo Cougars to an 11-1 crushing of the Kootenay Ice. Colton Thomas added two goals and three assists while P.G. Cougars first round bantam pick, Justin Almedia, notched a hat trick. The same teams meet again today (Sunday) in Trail. The Cariboo Cats will have their next home games Nov 8 and 9 against Fraser Valley.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings are idle this weekend. The Spruce Kings play their next game Friday in Trail.

–Inner City fighter Kenny Lally of Prince George has earned his 6th national boxing title. The 25-year-old Lally beat Bradley Wilcox of Hamilton in the final to finish with a 3-0 record and earn gold at the Boxing Canada Elite Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. Lally, who is hoping to qualify for the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, was part of the provincial team coached by Bob Pegues of PG. BC boxers finished with two gold, four silver and a bronze.

–The BC Team Speed Skating Section Trials for the 2015 Canada Winter Games will conclude today (Sunday) at Kin I.
