The Prince George Cougars edged the Kamloops Blazers 3-2 in a shootout to sweep the home doubleheader. Ty Edmonds stopped 42 shots to lead the Cougars before a Sunday afternoon crowd of 3,883 at CN Centre. Chance Braid and Jared Bethune scored for the Cats in regulation before Brad Morrison and Jansen Harkins tallied in the shootout. It was the first time this season the 10-8 Cougars have played a game beyond regulation time. PG began the weekend with a 4-1 victory over Kamloops Saturday in front of 2,397 fans.

–The P.G. Cougars have won three straight overall and six of their past seven home games. They are tied with Victoria and Kamloops for 2nd place in the WHL BC Division and will continue an 8-game homestand Friday and Saturday against Victoria.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars crushed the Kootenay Ice 11-1 (Saturday) and 8-1 (Sunday) to vault into first place in the BCMML. The 11-2-1 Cougars host Fraser Valley Saturday afternoon at 12:45 and Sunday at 1:15 at Kin 1.

–The PG Northland Dodge Northern Cougars of the BC Female Midget Triple A Hockey League improved its first place record to 13-2 by winning all three games in Campbell River against the Vancouver Island Hurricanes. Scores were 4-1 Saturday morning, 5-0 Saturday night and 5-1 Sunday morning. Next up for the Northern Cougars are 3 home games against the Thompson-Okanagan Lakes November 7-9.

–Jason LaBarbera of Prince George played his first NHL game in more than a year and stopped 16 shots to help the Anaheim Ducks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-2. LaBarbera was recalled from Norfolk of the AHL earlier Sunday because Frederik Andersen experienced tightness in his leg. LaBarbera, who played Friday and Saturday for Norfolk, was pressed into action when John Gibson sustained a lower-body injury in he warmup.

–-Inner City fighter Kenny Lally returns home to Prince George with a 6th national boxing title. The 25-year-old Lally beat Bradley Wilcox of Hamilton in the 56-kilos division final to earn gold with a 3-0 record at the Boxing Canada Elite Championships in Mississauga, Ontario. Lally, who is hoping to qualify for the 2015 Pan Am Games in Toronto, was part of the provincial team coached by Bob Pegues of PG. BC boxers finished with two gold, four silver and a bronze.
