City Council Preview: April 30th, 2018

The April 30th, 2018, regular council meeting for the City of Prince George will begin by celebrating the success of Healthier You Expo Award winners. Engage Sport North earned the Health and Wellness Innovator of the Year while the City’s Human Resources Team earned the Workplace Wellness Award. Local poetry author Ken Belford will also be in attendance to celebrate National Poetry Month with a poetry reading.

The Solid Waste Reserve Fund Bylaw will seek first three readings allowing for the spending of both operating and capital Solid Waste expenses to be funded by the reserve. A five-year financial plan will look for first three readings as well.

First quarter information will be received for information. Council will hear a report updating the expansion of residential garbage collection boundaries to include the McGuire Road and Chief Lake Road areas. A year in review for parks operations and sports and recreation units will also be presented.

Council has been recommended to approve two pieces regarding the 2020 and 2021 Federation of Canadian Municipalities Board of Directors Meetings. First is the application to host one meeting in either March or September of both years; the second looks at a contribution of $20,000 from the Major Events Reserve to host the event.

There are two information only delegations from the Two Rivers Canoe Club and Elder Citizens Recreation Association.
