REAPS holds PG Spring Clean Up

The annual citywide Spring Clean Up was this weekend as residents helped pick up litter covered by snow during the winter.

In total, 3,323 people participated and REAPS handed out over garbage bags.

REAPS Executive Director Terri McClymont says they tried to reach as much of Prince George as possible.

“We covered 14.64 square kilometres, that’s streets, sideways, parks, boulevards, and some green spaces.”

McClymont notes while it is good to pick up winter litter, the event serves another purpose as well.

“It also helps us to keep litter, whether it is involuntarily dropped on the ground or people littering for whatever reason, it gives us a chance to clean it up, keep it out of our waterways, and protect our environment.”

The total amount of collected garbage should be announced by the end of the week.
