A new book of poetry aims to fuse science with verse. Derrick Denholm’s book Dead Salmon Dialects was recently released and includes 35 poems. He says the book is made for people who don’t like poetry.
“It’s mostly about science,” says Denholm, “and the cultural and ecological value of salmon to the rainforests and the coastal landscapes.”
Denholm, who works as a field forester, says he wrote the book while taking a masters course at UNBC.
A book launch event is set for tonight at Books and Company.
