Prince George Track Club runner Alex Nemethy of Nechako Valley placed 12th out of 235 Senior Boys at the BC High School X-Country Championships in Victoria. Isaac Goodrich of College Heights finished 37th. In the Senior Girls race, Julia Babicz of College Heights was 50th out of 225 runners. In team results: the NVSS Sr Boys finished 8th out of 24 while the NVSS Sr Girls were 11th and the College Heights Sr Girls ended up 14th out of 22.

–Lavanna Laass of the Hart Judo Club earned a pair of bronze medals (U21 -63 kg and in senior women -63 kg) at the Quebec Open Judo tournament in Montreal. Branden Edwards of the P.G. Judo Club finished 5th with a 2-2 record (in U16 -60 kg) and Kyle Wilkinson of P.G. was 9th out of 33 (U18 -60 kg) with 4 wins & 2 losses.

–Four members of the Prince George Blizzard Speed Skating Club have qualified to compete in the 2015 Canada Winter Games in Prince George. Carolina Hiller, her twin brother Nico Hiller, Callie Swan and Vanderhoof’s Alison Desmarais all earned their spot at the B.C. team selection meet at Kin 1.

–In a swap of 18-year-old defensemen, the Prince George Spruce Kings acquired Ryan Fritz from the Nanaimo Clippers in return for Jordan Low. The 6’2”, 195 pound Fritz had a goal, two assists and 18 penalty minutes in 18 games with the Clippers this season. The Spruce Kings play their next game Friday in Trail.

–The Prince George Cougars second leading scorer will not play in the home games Friday or Saturday against Victoria. The WHL has suspended Chase Witala two games for a cross checking major and game misconduct in the 3-2 shootout victory on Sunday against Kamloops.

–The DP Todd Trojans and the College Heights Cougars tied for 7th in the 20 team Coyote Classic Sr Boys volleyball tournament at George Elliot in Kelowna.
