UPDATE: Power restored to Heritage area in PG after squirrel causes havoc

UPDATE – 9:10AM:

Power has been restored to the Heritage area of Prince George after an early morning outage left 1400 people in the dark.

It occurred south of Nechako Road and west of Ospika Boulevard.

“The crew did patrol and could not find anything that was an obvious sign of an outage, the circuit breaker in the substation tripped and the reason for why it tripped is unknown,” says Bob Gammer, BC Hydro Spokesperson.

He adds if anybody is still in the dark, they shouldn’t hesitate to call.

“Power was restored just before 7AM, customers were without power for an hour and a half. Happily, things are restored now, if there are customers still without power, call us at 1-888-POWER-ON.”

About 161 residents within the same area are still without power.

BC Hydro provided a further update stating the second outage occurred in the same area and lasted from 7:08 AM from 8:24 AM.

The causes of both were due to a squirrel contacting equipment.
