NHL: (First game in the Western Conference Final)

Winnipeg Jets  4  Vegas Golden Knights  2

Former PG Cougar Dustin Byfuglien scored the opening goal of the series and added an assist for the Jets, who will host game two Monday night at 5.

The NHL Eastern Final resumes this evening at five in Tampa.

The Washington Capitals lead the Lightning 1-0 after taking the opener 4-2.

Brett Connolly of Prince George assisted on the game winning goal by Jay Beagle early in the second period.

 

WORLD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: (in Denmark)

Finland  5  Canada  1

Canada, with a 3-1-1 record, plays Latvia Monday (11:15 a.m.) and Germany Tuesday (7:15 a.m.)

The Canadian team is third out of eight in Pool A.

 

WESTERN HOCKEY LEAGUE:

The WHL best-of-seven final for the Ed Chynoweth Cup will conclude in Swift Current.

The Broncos lead the Everett Silvertips 3-2 with game six tonight.

A 7th game, if needed, will be played Monday.

The WHL winner advances to the Memorial Cup May 18th to 27th in Regina.

The 21-19 Blue Jays are 3rd in the AL East, 6 1/2 games behind both the 27-12 Red Sox and NY Yankees.

NBA:

The NBA Eastern Conference Final tips off this afternoon at 12:30 in Boston as the Celtics host the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The Western Final starts Monday night at 6 with the Golden State Warriors at the Houston Rockets.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SENIOR LACROSSE:

The next PG Sr. Lacrosse game in Prince George will be played Monday night at 8 at Kin 1 with the 4-1
RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits against the 2-2 Westwood Pub Devils.

The Bandits won the previous meeting by a goal.

On the weekend in Mackenzie, the Quesnel Crossfire beat the Lumberjacks 12-10 Saturday and 10-8 Sunday.

This is the first season that the North Cariboo Senior Soccer League and the PG Women’s Soccer Association have amalgamated.
