Head shave marks end and kick-off for Prince George Relay for Life

The Canadian Cancer Society Prince George Branch celebrated raising $600,000 in this year’s Relay for Life today.

This year’s relay puts Prince George in the number one spot in Canada.

Team Lead Helen Owen, who committed to shaving her head if they raised $600,000, says at the Relay in May they raised $560,000.

“And Brent Marshall decided he wanted to see me shave my head,” says Owen, “so he committed to topping us up to the extra $40,000 to make it $600,000.”

Owen says all money raised in the Relay for Life goes to programs and research by the Canadian Cancer Society.

She says next year’s goals for the 2015 Relay are yet to be decided.
