The UNBC Timberwolves have honored 15 Academic All-Canadians for both their athletic performance and high grades in the classroom. For the first time all four of the varsity programs are represented. To be recognized as an Academic All-Canadian a student must have used a year of eligibility, and have accomplished an average of 80 percent or higher during that same year.

The recipients of each team and their program of study are as follows:

Men’s Soccer:

Harjas Grewal – Biochemistry (second year in a row)
Logan Phenuff – Biomedical Studies (second year in a row)
Mitchell MacFarlane – History
Chandandeep Sangha – Biochemistry (second year in a row)
David Chin – Biochemistry (second year in a row)

Women’s Soccer:

Katia Hartwig – Biochemistry (second year in a row)
Hannah Rizun – Political Science
Ashley Anderson – Biomedical Studies
Tanya Grob – Biomedical Studies

–The UNBC basketball teams tip off their season Friday at TRU in Kamloops.

–Defenseman Brandon Manning of Prince George has been returned to Lehigh Valley of the AHL. The 24-year-old Manning notched one assist in two games with the Flyers.

–The 10-8 Prince George Cougars are home against the Victoria Royals Friday and Saturday. Victoria is coming off a 5-1 loss Wednesday in Kelowna.

–The 10-6-0-2 Prince George Spruce Kings visit 8-7 Trail Friday, Merritt Saturday and West Kelowna Sunday afternoon.

-–The 11-2-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars host the 5-4-3 Fraser Valley Thunderbirds Saturday afternoon at 12:45 and Sunday afternoon at 1:15 at CN Centre.

–The 13-2 PG Northern Cougars of the BC Female Midget Triple A Hockey League entertain the Thompson-Okanagan Lakers Friday night at 7, Saturday morning at 9:15 and Sunday morning at 8:45 at the PG Coliseum.

–Duchess Park and PGSS compete in the BC High School football wild card games Friday in Kamloops. Duchess plays Vernon and PGSS meets Westsyde of Kamloops.

–Duchess Park will host a Sr. Boys volleyball tournament plus the Jr. Boys zone volleyball zone tournament Friday and Saturday.
