Prince George residents indulge in national holiday

Drink up Prince George, its National Caesar Day.

Each year, the Thursday before May long weekend marks the day Canadians celebrate the creation of the Caesar cocktail, first invented in back in 1969.

Bartender at the Black Clover Paul O’Brien says he’s worked in many bars across the country, and every place tries to put their own twist on the drink.

“I use to work at a place called the Boathouse in Horseshoe Bay and they use to have a Caesar that was topped with a fresh oyster.”

“There use to be a place in Prince George where they had something like eighteen or twenty different Caesars on their drink menu.”

O’Brien added there’s different variations you can add to the drink, such as tequila, rum and gin, it all depends on personal preference.

2018 marks the fourth annual National Caesar Day.

More than 300 million Caesars are made each year.
