NHL: (4th game in the Eastern Conference Final)

Tampa Bay Lightning  4  Washington Capitals  2

Series tied 2-2 with the visiting team winning each game.

Alex Killorn snapped a 2-2 tie just past the midway mark of the third period and Tampa goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 36 saves.

The Lightning were outshot 76-43 in Games Three and Four, and won them both.

The Capitals were 0-for-7 on the power play in Games 3 and 4.

Washington forward Nicklas Backstrom returned the line-up after missing four games with a hand injury and played on the third line with Brett Connolly of Prince George.

Game Five goes Saturday (4:15PM) in Tampa.

The NHL West Final resumes tonight (5PM) in Las Vegas with the Golden Knights in front of the Winnipeg Jets 2-1.

 

WORLD HOCKEY CHAMPIONSHIP: (in Denmark)

Canada  5  Russia  4  (OT)

Ryan O’Reilly scored on a power play in overtime.

Canada advances to the semi-finals Saturday against Switzerland (10:15AM PT) after the Swiss upset Finland 3-2 in the quarter-finals.

The other semi Saturday has the USA against Sweden (6:15AM).

Winners play for gold Sunday while the losers meet for bronze.

 

ROYAL BANK CUP JUNIOR HOCKEY: (in Chilliwack)

The semi-finals are set for Saturday at the Royal Bank Cup.

Wenatchee will play Wellington (2PM) followed by host Chilliwack against Ottawa (7PM).

Winners play in the championship game Sunday (4PM).

The two BCHL teams, Wenatchee and Chilliwack, finished first and second after round robin play.

MEMORIAL CUP:

The Memorial Cup in Regina opens tonight with the host Pats against the OHL champion Hamilton Bulldogs.

The Pats are without injured forward Jesse Gabrielle, as the ex PG Cougar is out for the tournament.

In the West: Houston visits Golden State Sunday night (5pm). The Rockets and Warriors are even 1-1.

 

PG TEAMS AND ATHLETES THIS WEEKEND:

The Prince George Kodiaks have a total of 13 teams at the volleyball club nationals, for players aged 14 to 18, in Edmonton.

Play continues until Tuesday.

The tournament is featuring 864 teams in 24 divisions.

The Prince George and Hart Judo Clubs have 17 athletes in Calgary for the national judo championships that conclude Sunday.

The Prince George Knights are in Penticton for the Interior Cup, which is Western Canada’s largest adult ball hockey tournament.

Competition starts today with playoffs to run Sunday.

PG Senior Lacrosse is idle on the long weekend.

League play resumes Wednesday night at 8 at Kin 1 with the Westwood Pub Devils against the
