BC Gov’t giving young parents access to free child care

Parents under 24-years old and who have had their child before their 20th birthday have access to free child care.

The B.C. government is investing $3 million over the next three years towards Young Parent Programs(YPP) across the province. This is on top of its annual $1.6 million.

Up to $1,500 a month is available to young parents who meet the criteria for the Child Care Subsidy program.

Infant and childcare is the most expensive type of care in B.C., with a median cost of $1,250 per month.
