NHL: (6th game in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final)

Washington Capitals  3  Tampa Bay Lightning  0

Braden Holtby stopped all 24 shots and T.J. Oshie scored twice, including the winner an empty netter, as the Caps tied the series 3-3.

The 7th and deciding game will be played Wednesday (5PM) in Tampa Bay.

The winner will face the Western Conference champion Vegas Golden Knights, who eliminated the Winnipeg Jets in five games.

The New York Islanders have hired 75-year-old Lou Lamoriello as their president of hockey operations.

The Former Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils GM will have full authority over all hockey matters with the team.

Paul Fenton is the new general manager of the Minnesota Wild.

The 58-year-old Fenton spent the last 12 seasons as assistant GM for the Nashville Predators.

 

MEMORIAL CUP IN REGINA: (four-team round-robin)

Hamilton Bulldogs  2  Swift Current Broncos  1

The Bulldogs scored the winner with 2:01 left in the third.

Broncos goalie Stuart Skinner made 54 saves as Hamilton outshot Swift Current 56-21.

Acadie-Bathurst Titan leads the round robin standings at 2-0 followed by Hamilton and Regina at 1-1.

The Broncos are 0-2 and must win their final round-robin match-up on Wednesday against the host Pats to keep their tournament hopes alive.

Hamilton will play Acadie-Bathurst tonight at 7.

ROYAL BANK CUP JUNIOR HOCKEY:

Defenceman Bryan Allbee of Prince George helped the hometown Chilliwack Chiefs win the Royal Bank Cup.

Allbee, in his last year of junior hockey, notched one assist for the Chiefs in a 4-2 victory over the Wellington Dukes in the final.

Chilliwack is the 14th BCHL team to win the national championship, but the first to do it as host.

The Chiefs are the second consecutive host team and third in the last four years to win Canada’s National Junior A Championship.

The BCHL and Doyle Cup champion Wenatchee Wild lost 2-1 to Wellington in the semi-final.

JUDO:

The Hart Judo Academy and Prince George Judo Club brought home a total of seven medals (one gold, one silver and five bronze) from the national judo championships in Calgary.

Kimiko Kamstra (Hart) led the way with a gold and a silver.

Maxwell Young (Hart) earned a pair of bronze.

Other bronze went to Brooke Corbett (Hart), Sydney Edgson (PG) and Tami Goto (PG).

 

BALL HOCKEY:

The Prince George Knights won three of their five games overall and ended up second in the C Division at the Interior Cup men’s ball hockey tournament in Penticton.

The Knights went 2-1 in the round robin (2-1 win over Surrey Vipers, 3-2 win over the Langley Jokers and 3-2 loss to Calgary Hooligans) before winning the semi-final (3-2 over Calgary Hooligans in overtime).

They lost the final 2-1, in overtime, against the Langley Jokers.

 

NBA: (4th game in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Final)

Cleveland Cavaliers  111  Boston Celtics  102

LeBron James hooped 44 points for the Cavaliers who tied the series 2-2.

Game five will be played in Boston Wednesday night at 5:30.

The Celtics are 9-0 at home in the playoffs.

In the West, Houston plays at Golden State tonight (6PM) with the Warriors ahead of the Rockets 2-1.

 

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays host the 26-21 LA Angels tonight to begin a three game series.

The 22-25 Blue Jays have lost their last four games, all to the Oakland A’s.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SENIOR LACROSSE:

PG Senior Lacrosse resumes Wednesday at 8PM at Kin 1 featuring the Westwood Pub Devils against the RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits.

Both teams are 4-2 and tied for second.

They have split their first two meetings of the season.
