PG Fire Centre wildfires force smoky skies advisory in Peace Region

Prince George residents and commuters heading North towards Dawson Creek, Fort St. John, and beyond today may notice some blue-orange haze on the horizon.

BC’s Ministry of Environment has issued a Smoky Skies advisory for both the North and South ends of the Peace River Region.

This is largely due to recent wildfires in the Prince George Fire Centre earlier this week, specifically, the Kahta (875 hectares) and Beatton Creek fires (150 hectares).

Air quality Meteorologists are asking everyone to stay indoors, especially infants, seniors, and those with diabetes, and lung or heart disease.

The general public is asked to avoid outdoors strenuous activity until the bulletin has been lifted.
