SASKATOON BLADES:

There is a media report (Taking Note from Kamloops) that suggests Mitch Love of Quesnel will be named the new head coach of the Saskatoon Blades at a news conference this afternoon.

The 33-year-old Love was an assistant coach and assistant general manager this season with the Everett Silvertips.

He would replace Dean Brockman who was sacked in March.

Love played five seasons in the WHL and another five in the AHL.

He has been on the Silvertips coaching staff since the 2012-13 season.

The Blades have not qualified for the playoffs in the last five years.

The Edmonton Oil Kings, Swift Current Broncos and Kamloops Blazers continue to look for a head coach while Kamloops and the Prince George Cougars have not yet named a general manager.
