Mackenzie encouraging residents to help them win the BCAA’s Play Here

The community of Mackenzie is asking residents one more time to help them win a contest to revitalize one of their playgrounds.

John Dahl park is the only Northern top ten finalist for BCAA’s Play Here contest. If they win they will receive $100,000 to upgrade the play area.

“We want to have a natural themed playground with fake stumps that lead up to the structure and definitely some slides because that’s fun for kids. We want interactive wall panels that preschoolers can play with and then hopefully we can build on that,” says Leanne McKinnon, Community Organizer.

Back in 2009, Mackenzie was impacted by the economic downturn which left little resources for playground structures, rendering them obsolete and unsafe.

Residents have until tomorrow to submit their vote.
