For the second consecutive game, the Prince George Spruce Kings failed to score. The (11-6-1-1) Vernon Vipers scored once in each period to shutout the Spruce Kings 3-0 before 1,054 fans at the Coliseum. Vernon outshot P.G. 39-23 with both teams 0/4 on the power play. The (12-8-0-2) Spruce Kings, who lost 5-0 Sunday in West Kelowna, host the Surrey Eagles Friday and Saturday. The 3-13-0-3 Eagles have the worst record in the BCHL and have dropped 8 straight.

–The P.G. Spruce Kings lead the BCHL Mainland Division by a point over the (12-4-0-1) Chilliwack Chiefs and two over the (10-7-1-3) Langley Rivermen, however, Chilliwack has five games in hand on P.G. and Langley has played one less game than Prince George.

–The 11-9 Prince George Cougars host the 18-1-1 Kelowna Rockets Friday and Saturday. The Cougars are 4th in the WHL Western Conference, however, just four points separate 4th from 9th (and eight points separate 3rd from 10th). Prince George and Victoria have 22 points, two behind Tri-City, and one ahead of Kamloops, three in front of Spokane, four up on Portland and six ahead of Vancouver. The Rockets have a 10 point lead on second place Everett.

–The 13-2-1 Major Midget Cariboo Cougars host the 12-2 Vancouver North West Giants Saturday at 4pm and Sunday at 9:45am at Kin 1 in a match-up of the top two teams in the BCMML. The Cougars lead the league in goals for while the Giants lead the league in goals against.

–-The UNBC Timberwolves visit the Fraser Valley Cascades Friday and Saturday in Canada West basketball. Both UNBC teams are 0-2. The Timberwolves home openers will be held November 21st and 22nd against Mount Royal.

–The Joy Hoffman Memorial Ringette Tournament will be held Friday to Sunday at the Kin Centres. Teams from Prince George, Quesnel, Houston and Terrace will compete. The BC Ringette team will be in P.G. to hold a practice Saturday and tour the Canada Winter Games venues.

–The Boys Double and Triple A zone volleyball championships will take place at College Heights Secondary beginning Friday at 3:30. Gold medal games are slated for Saturday at 1 (AAA) and 2:30 (AA).

–Duchess Park and PGSS compete in the BC High School football Provincial quarter-finals Friday. Duchess plays Carson Graham in Kamloops while PGSS meets John Barsby on Vancouver Island. In the wild card games, Duchess lost 38-0 to Vernon and PGSS dropped a 48-14 decision to Westsyde of Kamloops.
