–WHL goal scoring leader Rourke Chartier tallied twice, including the winner midway through the third period, and added an assist to lead the Kelowna Rockets to a 6-3 victory over the Prince George Cougars before 2,717 fans. The 19-1-1 Rockets scored three times on the power play. The Cougars slip to 11-10. The two teams meet again tonight (Saturday) at CN Centre.

–The P.G. Spruce Kings exploded with four goals in the third period to double the Surrey Eagles 6-3. It was the 9th straight loss for the Eagles. Chad Staley notched a goal and three assists while line-mate Justin Rai scored twice and added an assist to lead the Spruce Kings before a hometown crowd of 1,082. The rematch will go tonight at 7 at the PG Coliseum.

–The top two teams in the BCMML square off at Kin 1. The 13-2-1 Cariboo Cougars host the 12-2 Vancouver North West Giants today at 4pm and Sunday at 9:45am.

–The UNBC Timberwolves lost to the Fraser Valley Cascades in both men’s and women’s action in Canada West basketball. Fraser Valley beat the UNBC men 82-59 and the Cascades whipped the Lady Timberwolves 83-57. The same teams meet again tonight at Fraser Valley. Both UNBC teams are 0-3.

–The Joy Hoffman Memorial Ringette Tournament continues until Sunday at the Kin Centres. Teams from Prince George, Quesnel, Houston and Terrace are competing.
