Bandits win the semi-final series 2-0 and advance to the Dale Rolufs Final against the Westwood Pub Devils, which begin on July 17th.

Devils sweep the series 2-0.

 

WIMBLEDON:

Canadian Milos Raonic (#13) takes on American John Isner (#9) in the Quarterfinals at Wimbledon this morning.

Both players are two of the hardest servers in the tournament.

For the 27-year-old Raonic, this is his fourth quarterfinal at the All-England Club and third year in a row.

Match time is 7AM Pacific.

The 42-48 Blue Jays look to sweep the two-game series today in Atlanta.

Toronto will head to Boston on Thursday for a four-game series before the All-Star break.

Pitcher J.A. Happ is the only Blue Jays representative heading to the mid-summer classic, the first time in his 12-year career.

 

JARED YOUNG:

Days after being named the team’s minor league player of the month for June, Prince George baseball product Jared Young has jumped in the ranks of the Chicago Cubs.

The now 23-year-old has been called up by the Myrtle Beach Pelicans, the Class ‘A’ Advanced affiliated of the Cubs, taking over the first base position.

He collected his first RBI in the promotion on a sac fly in the Pelicans’ 8-7 loss on Sunday.

NHL:

The St. Louis Blues have signed Patrick Maroon to a one-year contract worth $1.75 million.

Maroon split last season between the Edmonton Oilers and New Jersey Devils and recorded 17 goals along with a career-high 43 points.

Former Prince George Cougar and Smithers native Dan Hamhuis still remains unsigned after spending the past two seasons with the Dallas Stars.

Nikita Kucherov is sticking in Tampa Bay for the next eight years.

The 25-year-old Russian forward has signed a contract extension worth $76 million ($9.5 million AAV).

Kucherov finished third in NHL last season with 39 goals and 102 points.

 

CFL:

Week Five of the 2018 CFL season kicks off tomorrow in Ottawa when the RedBlacks welcome the undefeated Calgary Stampeders.

The 1-2 BC Lions welcome the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Saturday night.
