WIMBLEDON:
Novak Djokovic has his fourth Wimbledon title and 13th major trophy (the fourth-highest total in the history of men’s tennis, trailing only Roger Federer’s 20, Rafael Nadal’s 17, and Pete Sampras’ 14).
The 12th seeded Djokovic whipped (#8) Kevin Anderson 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 in the final.
In the semis, Djokovic edged #2 Nadal 10-8 in the 5th and deciding set while Anderson got by #9 John Isner 26-24 in the fifth set.
Isner defeated Canadian Milos Raonic in the quarter-finals.

The Wimbledon women’s champion is Angelique Kerber, who captured her third career Grand Slam title.
The 20-year-old German beat 36-year-old Serena Williams 6-3, 6-3 in the final.
NHL:
Former NHL goaltender Ray Emery lost his life in a drowning accident in his hometown of Hamilton.
He was 35.
Emery had an 11-year career in the NHL, winning the Jennings trophy — and the Stanley Cup — with the Chicago Blackhawks in 2013.
LACROSSE:
Prince George earned the silver medal in the A2 division at the Provincial Pee Wee Lacrosse championship in Coquitlam.
PG dropped the final 11-7 against Saanich.
Prince George edged New Westminster 6-5 in the semi-final.

Prince George resident Cole Paciejewski is playing for Scotland at the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship in Israel.
Scotland lost its first three games; 18-6 to Australia (Friday), 22-3 to Canada (Saturday) and 11-8 to England (Sunday).
Paciejewski scored a goal, his first point of the tournament, against England.
The tourney continues this week.

The RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits and the Westwood Pub Devils begin the best-of-five PG Senior Lacrosse Final Tuesday night at 8 at Kin 1.
The same teams met in the 2017 championship series, with the Devils prevailing in five games.
CYCLING:
Prince George cyclist Callie Swan finished ninth this past weekend in her final competition of BC Superweek.
During the Tour de White Rock, the 20-year-old finished fifth out of 55 in the Saturday criterium with a time of 54:30.9, and 16th out of 52 in the Sunday road race with a time of 2:28:59.
Her ninth-place ranking is based on an Omnium point system.
BC Superweek is an annual 10-day racing event in the Lower Mainland.

The Blue Jays are nine games below .500 (43-52) at the All-Star break.
They are a whopping 14 1/2 games behind Seattle for the last wild-card spot.
The Mariners, who have lost their last four, are 3 1/2 ahead of Oakland for the second wild-card berth.
The 2018 Home Run Derby will be held tonight followed by the All-Star Game from Washington Tuesday just after 5PM.
The Blue Jays host (28-69) Baltimore Friday to begin a six-game homestand.
