A number of community members appeared at Monday’s regular council meeting trying to sway Council’s opinion of four duplex developments in their area. Three are on Knight Crescent and one is on Glendale Drive.

One of the three presenters is Tammy Kramer, who lives on Glendale. She explains the main concern they have.

“We feel that it would bring an influx of traffic, it would bring several more people living in each dwelling, up to six cars per dwelling, driving up and down our road.”

Two petitions were drawn up against the four developments. Kramer says one had 50 signatures and the other had 45 for a total of 95 signatures.

She feels Council did not consider their concerns closely enough.

“I felt they heard what we had to say but they already knew the decision they were going to make. I just feel that they heard what they wanted to hear out of what we presented.”

Councillors Terri McConnachie and Jillian Merrick each made lengthy comments after the presentations were done to express gratitude and understanding towards the presenters.

Council unanimously approved third readings to each of the four duplex developments.

The issue of a nearby park or green space that had not been developed was brought up by one other presenter. Council noted they would look into that after fourth reading of each development.
