One of four new wildfires discovered in the Cariboo Fire Centre have been confirmed to be lightning caused.
Fire Information Officer Jessica Mack says a fire discovered at Chimney Valley has five firefighters and one officer on site today.
“Three firefighters worked the incident last night and were able to update the status to being held,” Mack said.
“The cause is lighting and is 0.01 hectares in size.”
Personnel, according to Mack, were en-route to three other fires located near Tautri, Quesnel Lake, and Forest Grove.
“Currently the fires near Tautri and Quesnel Lake do not have resources on site of the incidents, but personnel are en route,” she said.
“The fire located near Forest Grove has three personnel en route to the incident and do not have any confirmed size or cause information at this time.”
After speaking with Mack, BC Wildfire Service reported on its’ interactive map of another new fire in the Cariboo Fire Centre located 12 kilometers east of 141 Mile.
That fire is suspected to be lightning caused and is estimated at 0.10 hectares.
