Westwood Pub Devils  13  RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits  4

The best-of-five final for the Dale Rolufs Memorial Trophy is tied 1-1 with Game Three Monday night, 8PM at Kin 1.

The Bandits, who took the opener 9-6, had their 13-game win streak come to an end.

Cole Paciejewski of Prince George scored twice and added an assist for Scotland in a 12-6 loss Thursday against the Philippines at the Federation of International Lacrosse World Championship in Israel.

Scotland finished 1-7 after a 14-10 victory today (Friday) over Ireland in its final game.

Paciejewski, a first-team all-star in PG Senior Lacrosse, notched seven points (4G, 3A) in eight
tournament games after picking up an assist against Ireland.

In earlier action, Scotland lost 11-7 to Japan (Wednesday), 14-7 to the Iroquois Nationals (Tuesday), 18-2 to the USA (Monday), 11-8 to England (Sunday), 22-3 to Canada (Saturday), and 18-6 to Australia (Friday).

The tournament concludes Saturday with the USA-Canada final.

 

GOLF:

Kevin Kisner, who led after 18 holes, and Zach Johnson are the co-leaders after the second round of the
147th Open Championship at Carnoustie (Scotland).

Kisner and Johnson are 6-under-136.

Rory McIlroy is two off the pace at 4-under while defending champ Jordan Spieth is minus-3.

Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson sit at even-par 142.

Canadian Adam Hadwin made the cut at 1-over 143.

World #1 Dustin Johnson missed the cut which was 3-over.

 

CFL: (Start of week six)

Saskatchewan Roughriders  31  Hamilton Tiger-Cats  20

The B.C. Lions visit the Ottawa RedBlacks tonight (4:30PM PT).

Both the Lions and RedBlacks are 2-2.

A pair of Saturday CFL games have Winnipeg at Toronto (1:00PM) and Montreal at Calgary (6:00PM).

WEST:

Calgary 4-0, Edmonton 3-2, Saskatchewan 3-2,  B.C. 2-2, Winnipeg 2-3

EAST:

Ottawa 2-2, Hamilton 2-3, Toronto 1-3, Montreal 1-3

 

PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

The seventh annual Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament begins with an Alumni Meet & Greet, (which includes an autograph session) today from 4PM-5PM at the CN Centre.

Over 30 Alumni will also take part in the golf on Saturday at the PG Golf and Curling Club.

The Cougars, the PG Cougars Alumni Association and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation have raised just under $400,000 towards healthcare in Northern B.C. over the past six years, including a record-breaking $105,000 in 2017.

All proceeds from this weekend’s tournament will complete the Spirit of the North’s Regional Cardiac Strategy for UHNBC.

Confirmed alumni for this year’s tournament include Eric Brewer (1995-1998), Chase Witala (2010-2016), Nick Drazenovic (2002-2007), and Josh Anderson (2013-2018).

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

Guard Chris Ross is joining the UNBC Timberwolves for the 2018-19 Canada West Men’s Basketball season.

The six-foot-three Ross was a tournament all-star as he led Seycove Secondary to a bronze medal at this year’s
B.C. Boys AA provincial championship.

Ross, who will study business and accounting at UNBC, has been a member of Team BC on four occasions.

 

BC SUMMER GAMES:

This is day one of competition in 18 sports at the 31st BC Summer Games in Cowichan Valley.

Prince George is represented with more than 200 athletes and coaches.

 

MLB:

After a four-day All-Star break, the (43-52) Toronto Blue Jays begin a six-game homestand tonight when they entertain the (28-69) Baltimore Orioles.

The Orioles have just dealt their best player, all-star shortstop Manny Machado to the LA Dodgers, for five minor league prospects, including pitcher Zach Pop of Brampton, Ontario.

NBA:

The Toronto Raptors betting odds increased after they acquired Kawhi Leonard from the San Antonio Spurs for DeMar DeRozan as part of a blockbuster deal.

According to BO-DOG, the Raptors are 18/1 to win the NBA title in 2018-19 season, an improvement from 30/1, which they were listed at before the trade.

The Golden State Warriors are the overwhelming favorites at 4/7.

The Raptors are 9/2 to win the Eastern Conference behind the Boston Celtics (10/13) and the Philadelphia 76’ers (3/1).
