The YMCA of Northern BC is celebrating its 50th anniversary Wednesday, and to mark the momentous occasion they have invited Olympic medalist and humanitarian Clara Hughes out to Prince George.
Clara is the only Canadian to have won medals in both the Summer and Winter Olympics, and is in town to tell her remarkable story regarding the stigma behind mental health issues.
YMCA CEO Amanda Alexander says Hughes will be bringing a message to youth in the community:
“From a short moment of seeing a speed skater on television, she had a dream, and that changed her life around. So I think the message she brings that’s of huge value is about potential – that everyone has potential, and to believe in yourself”
Hughes will be at the CANFOR theater at 7pm. Tickets are $35 and available at the door or from your local YMCA.
