Rental units across Northern BC seem to be on par with the rest of the province.
That’s what a new rental housing index from the BC Non Profit Housing Association has found.
In Prince George, the average renter pays $785 a month for rent plus utilities.
In the Bulkley-Nechako area rent plus utilities averages $659.

Executive Director Tony Roy says in the North the tides are turning when it comes to rent prices.
“All of these people coming in for these priorities of our province are all renters,” says Roy, “and we are not planning our communities for renters, we’re designing the transportation and the zoning for home-owners.”
Roy hopes this type of data will help communities better plan better for changes to their areas.
