The Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack will be holding their pre-season men’s volleyball training camp in Prince George for the first time.

It will take place in late August.

“This will be similar to what the BC Lions do in Kamloops,” says TRU Head Coach Pat Hennelly in a news release.”

“We will get the guys together and begin to prepare for the season. A number of our players always want to instruct at the Prince George camp so I thought it would be an ideal situation to have everyone there to train.”

“We are going to go up there a day early (Saturday, August 26th) and train, do team meetings and get some paperwork out of the way instead of scrambling to do that during the first week of school. We will do some goal setting.  We will train while the youth camp is going on Monday to Thursday (August 27th to 30th) with the Prince George senior boys.”

TRU has had a number of Prince George players on its roster over the past several years.

The PG connection continues as outside hitter Ryan Hampe of Duchess Park will be entering his first season with the team.

“Having our MVB training camp in Prince George is awesome,” says Hampe.

“Having my first training camp of my university career in my hometown will be a great experience that I’ll cherish. For the volleyball community here in town it will be great, we will have an intra-squad game that anyone can come watch, as well as I’m sure we will have some open practices that kids can come watch.”

WolfPack women’s player and Prince George native Hali Drezet has attended this camp both as a participant and instructor.
