Edmonton Eskimos  44  Montreal Alouettes  23

Mike Reilly threw for 415 yards and four touchdowns.

He also ran for a TD to lead the Eskimos to their fourth win in six games.

Montreal QB Johnny Manziel dressed as the back-up to Vernon Adams and never got on the field.

The Als dropped to CFL worst 1-5 record.

MLB:

The Toronto Blue Jays dealt left-hander J.A. Happ to the New York Yankees in return for infielder Brandon Drury and prospect outfielder Billy McKinney.

The 35-year-old Happ is 10-6 this year with a 4.18 ERA.

The non-waiver trade deadline is Tuesday.

The (46-55) Blue Jays begin a 10-game road trip tonight in Chicago against the (36-66) White Sox.

The Jays will also face Oakland and Seattle before returning home to meet Boston on August 7th.

 

GOLF:

American Kevin Tway, at 13-under 131, has the second round clubhouse lead by one stroke at the RBC Canadian Open which is taking place at Glen Abbey in Oakville, Ontario.

Top Canadian Nick Taylor of Abbotsford is just four shots from the top at 9-under.

Pat Fletcher (in 1954) is the last Canadian to win the tournament.

 

LACROSSE:

The Prince George Posse are competing this weekend at the Provincial Midget ‘B’ lacrosse Championship in Burnaby.

P.G. won its first of four round robin games 5-1 over Burnaby.

Playoffs go Saturday night with medal games set for Sunday.

The Westwood Pub Devils are repeat playoffs champions in PG Senior Lacrosse and have qualified for the senior C provincial championship August 10th to 12th in the Lower Mainland.

The Devils won the best-of-five final 3-1 over the RPR Mechanical/J.R. Construction Bandits after a 9-6 victory in Game Four.

 

NITRO:

The Big Bux Race is featured this weekend at Nitro Motorsports Park (9285 Raceway).

The field will include about 100 Race Cars and 20 Junior Dragsters.

Qualifying and eliminations start at 10AM Saturday and Sunday.

 

HOCKEY CANADA:

Former Prince George Cougars forward Justin Almeida of the Moose Jaw Warriors has pulled out of Hockey Canada’s World Junior Showcase due to an injury.

The Showcase starts Saturday in Kamloops and continues until August 4th.

Teams competing are from Canada, the United States, Finland, and Sweden.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

The Prince George Spruce Kings acquired 19-year-old goaltender Logan Neaton from the Fairbanks Ice Dogs of the North American Hockey League (NAHL) in return for future considerations.

The six-foot-two, 185-pound Neaton posted a 17-4-0-1 record with a 2.00 goals-against-average and .906 save % in 24 games for Fairbanks in the 2017-18 season.

 

VOLLEYBALL:

The TRU WolfPack of Kamloops will be coming to Prince George to hold their preseason men’s volleyball training camp in late August.

Duchess Park grad Ryan Hampe will be entering his first season with the team.

“This will be similar to what the BC Lions do in Kamloops. We will get the guys together and begin to prepare for the season,” said TRU head coach Pat Hennelly in a news release.
