The Immigrant & Multicultural Services Society of PG (IMSS) has renamed its building in honour of the woman who started it all.
After moving to Canada in 1972, Baljit Sethi realized there was a lack of services for immigrants in rural communities.
“There were no other agencies in the north, expect Quesnel who had a small office. I went to [PG] City Hall, talked to the mayor, and I said this Northern region is getting so many immigrants and they have separate needs.”

She was presented the Lifetime Achievement Award and was recognized as this year’s face of the IMSS Day of Cultures.
