The Prince George Cougars have signed their only pick in the 2018 CHL Import Draft.

Forward Matej Toman of the Czech Republic was selected fifth overall.

The 17-year-old Toman played last season for his hometown team HC Ceske Budejovice at the Under-18, Under-20 level and with the men’s team in the Czech Third Division.

Toman had 15 points (three goals) in 11 regular season games and added another 13 points (six goals) in seven playoff games, helping lead HC Ceske Budjovice to an Under-18 championship.

He added 14 points (eight goals) in 25 games with the Under-20 team and three points (two goals) in 15 games with the men’s team.

Toman is currently playing for the Czechs at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup in Edmonton and Red Deer.
