–The Prince George Spruce Kings jumped out to a 5-0 lead and went on for a 7-4 victory over the West Kelowna Warriors. The final two goals came into an empty net in a game that ended with several fights. Jesse Jenks had 47 saves for the Spruce Kings, who were outshot 51-29 in front of 984 fans at the Coliseum. Jake Lebrun and Cole Todd scored twice and added an assist for the winners while former P.G. minor hockey product Liam Blackburn tallied twice for the Warriors. The 15-10-0-2 Spruce Kings are back in first place in the BCHL Mainland Division, a point ahead of Chilliwack although the Chiefs have three games in hand. The Spruce Kings 8-game homestand continues Friday and Saturday against the 9-13-1-4 Coquitlam Express.

–The Prince George Cougars host the 13-10-1 Regina Pats tonight (Wednesday) in their only game this week. The 13-13 Cougars are 8th in the WHL Western Conference, but just a point behind Spokane, Kamloops and Portland and only two back of Tri-City.

–P.G. Cougars 19-year-old forward David Soltes has been selected to play for Slovakia at the 2014-15 World Junior Hockey Championship in Toronto and Montreal from December 26th, 2014 to January 5th, 2015. In 20 games this season, Soltes has eight goals, three assists and 16 penalty minutes. Previously, Soltes represented Slovakia at the World-Under 18 championships in 2012-13.

–Vancouver Canucks G.M. Jim Benning says the team is seeking a second opinion on the lower body injury to P.G. Cougars minority owner to Dan Hamhuis. Initial reports have Hamhuis on the sidelines for months.

–The 15-2-1 Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars entertain the 13-4-1 Okanagan Rockets Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 11:30am at Kin 1. Okanagan is tied for 2nd with the Vancouver NW Giants, 4 points back of the Cougars.

–Six Prince George high school volleyball teams take to the court at the Provincials. The D.P. Todd, Duchess Park and PGSS Senior Boys start play today with the College Heights, Duchess Park and D.P. Senior Girls to begin Thursday.
