Illegal dumping is still on the menu for the September 17th city council meeting.
Councillor Brian Skakun will be asking that council ask the Regional District of Fraser-Fort George work with the city on a strategy to combat the issue.
Service calls in the downtown area are up by almost 50% this year. Ian Wells, General Manager, Planning and Development for the city, will be presenting a report from Downtown Seasonal Bylaw Compliance Team, who, according to the report, have been pretty busy so far in 2018.
They say that people occupying public and private properties without permission, leaving waste and debris, including drug paraphernalia and “creating a sense of discomfort to downtown employees”, have been the main problems for the area. The team was assembled in May of this year by PG Bylaw Services on a five month trial basis with the goal of enhancing “health, safety, and security” in the downtown.
Mayor of Prince George, Lyn Hall is recommending that council provide direction on whether they will be moving forward with using the Municipal and Regional District Tax (MRDT) for affordable housing initiatives in the city.
The Prince George Midget Knights baseball team is getting a pat on the back from the city after a successful season earned them the Baseball Canada’s 18U-AA Western Canadian Championship.
Dan Drezet, president of the Prince George Youth Volleyball Club is looking for the city’s support to host the 2019 U19 Men’s Pan Am Cup in Prince George.
