Masich Place Stadium reopens

A celebration was held at Masich Place Stadium ahead of a UNBC Men’s Timberwolves soccer game Friday night.

The stadium was officially reopened, much to the delight of Mayor Lyn Hall.

“It has been a long project but I think at the end of the day it’s going to improve our ability to go after major sporting events. It just adds to the other premier facilities that we have in Prince George. It gives UNBC soccer teams, both men and women, a home, there’s football, field hockey, a number of sporting activities could go on here.”

In addition to Hall and other community leaders, Parliamentary Secretary for Sport and Multiculturalism Ravi Kahlon was also in attendence.

“The facility is phenomenal. It’s well done, it’s accessible, a perfect layout for many competitions. Think this is a game-changer for the region,” explains the Delta North MLA.

“When I travel to Kamloops next and they tell me that they’re the tournament capital, I’ll tell them that they’ve got competition in Prince George.”

“Try it” stations were available at the stadium for people to briefly test out various sports they had not tried before.
