The Prince George Spruce Kings scored four unanswered goals in the third period to post a 6-4 victory over the Coquitlam Express. Braiden Epp scored twice and added an assist while line-mate Jeremiah Luedtke chipped in with four assists for the Spruce Kings before 956 fans. The same two teams meet again tonight (Saturday) at the PG Coliseum.

–Spruce Kings goalie Jesse Jenks and forward Brogan O’Brien have been chosen to attend the selection camp for Team Canada West which will compete in the World Junior A Challenge December 14th-20th in Kindersley, Saskatchewan. The selection camp runs Dec 7th to 10th in Calgary.

–Prince George Cougars minority owner Eric Brewer has been traded by the Tampa Bay Lightning to the Anaheim Ducks for a 3rd round pick in 2015. The 35-year-old Brewer has 264 points and 774 penalty minutes in 982 NHL games. This season with Tampa Bay, Brewer had four assists and 18 penalty minutes with a +5 rating in 17 games. Selected by the New York Islanders in the first round (fifth overall) of the 1997 NHL Draft, Brewer has played for the Islanders (1998-00), Edmonton (2000-04), St. Louis (2005-11) and Tampa Bay (2011-14).

–The PG Cougars host PA Wednesday before they play at Kelowna on Dec 5 and Kamloops Dec 6.

–The Cariboo Cougars host the Okanagan Rockets at Kin 1 tonight (Saturday) at 7:15 and Sunday at 11:30am.

–In Canada West basketball: The UNBC men Timberwolves beat the UBC OKanagan Heat 83-74 before just over 400 fans. In the women’s game, UBCO outscored the winless Lady Timberwolves 72-58. The rematch goes tonight at 5 and 7 at the Northern Sport Centre in the T-wolves final league action in 2014.

–The Provincial high school volleyball championships conclude Saturday. The Duchess Park Triple A Girls have reached the semi-finals in Parksville while the College Heights Triple A Girls lost in the round of 16 and are down to the consolation. The DP Todd Double A Girls dropped their quarter-final match and will play for 5th to 8th in Mill Bay. The Cedars Christian Single A Girls lost in the quarters and will play for 5th to 8th in Kelowna. The DP Todd Double A Boys play for 5th and 6th while the College Heights Double A Boys compete for 7th and 8th in Langley. The PGSS Triple A Boys finished last out of 20 in Langley.
