DriveBC is predicting Highway 16 to re-open between 4 to 5 p.m. this afternoon.
UPDATE 11:00 a.m.
Burns Lake Fire and Rescue and the BC Ambulance service arrived to the scene prior to police officers and found the sole occupant of the vehicle, an 18 year old male. He was declared deceased at the scene. The accident was a single vehicle roll over, RCMP were dispatched to the scene at 5:55am.
One person is dead after a crash on Highway 16 this morning.
Cpl. Madonna Saunderson is heading to the scene though at this point, she says most details are unclear.
“Single vehicle crash, fatal, I don’t know, [how many affected] single, double, I have no idea how many,” she says.
The highway is closed in both directions 20 km. east of Burns Lake.
A Detour is available via Tibbetts Rd. and Augier Main with pilot car for all traffic,
