Packed house for the last Prince George all-candidates forum

The Canfor Theatre at UNBC brought a crowd for the last Prince George City Council All-Candidates forum.

Each candidate had session with the mediator, who asked three questions and then gave them a minute for last words.

The candidates were impressed with the turn out of the event.

“For the candidates and for how we get to communicate with the community, it’s events like this that provide that opportunity,” said Murry Krause.

One question, asked to almost every candidate, was about overtime wages, most said it would need to be looked at but didn’t provide specific details.

“I think it would be premature to know right now what we need to do to change it. And what we need to do, to do it right, we need to have a new council in to speak about it,” said Terri McConnachie.

“We’ve heard loud and clear, it needs to be revisited.”

Chris Wood said the policies need to be changed.

“I think I said specifically that overtime needs to be eliminated for management, they are given vacation in lieu, and it should not exist.”

Also addressed were city staff wages, the idea of a municipal RCMP, wards in the city and affordable housing.

Election day is on Saturday,  October 20th.
