Update: A suspect in connection with the shooting was taken into custody around 3:30 Wednesday afternoon.

A Kamloops Police officer is in hospital in serious condition after he was shot early this morning.
Police say around 2:45, the officer stopped a vehicle at a traffic stop where there was an exchange of gun fire.

The officer is undergoing surgery while police hunt the suspect or suspects who are believed to be armed and dangerous.
RCMP are searching for a 1998, 4 door, white Chrysler Intrepid with BC license plate AF765A attached to it at the time.
