Advanced voting dips by 15% compared to 2014 PG election

Even with four chances over a span of two weeks, advanced voting for Prince George’s elections this year saw a slight decrease.

In total, 2,285 eligible voters cast their ballots early ahead of tomorrow’s general election a near 15% drop compared to four years ago.

“For comparison, in 2014 we had a total of 2,663 ballots cast. At this point, we can only speculate as to why voter turnout is higher than normal in any given election year,” explained City spokesperson Mike Kellett.

Residents only had three days of advanced polling opportunities in 2014, and Kellett added another interesting fact.

“Four years ago, we had a higher-than-usual voter turnout at 37%, which is higher than the number of the previous election.”

The advanced voting days this year were October 10th, 11th, 16th, and 17th.

The final day of voting is on Decision Day, which takes place tomorrow from 8AM to 8PM.
