–The Prince Albert Raiders broke open a 1-1 game with a pair of unanswered goals in the second period to beat the Prince George Cougars 5-2. Winnipeg Jets first round pick Josh Morrissey notched an empty net goal and added two assists for the 14-14 Raiders before 2,360 fans at CN Centre. The Cougars fall to 13-15, including an 0-15 mark when they allow four or more goals. The Cats, tied with Seattle for 8th in the Western Conference, visit Kelowna Friday and Kamloops Saturday before hosting Saskatoon Tuesday in the Teddy Bear Toss game.

–The P.G. Cougars have released 19-year-old European defenceman Martin Bobos (1 assist, -3 in 15 games). The Cougars have replaced Bobos with 19-year-old defenceman Kirk Bear who has had the ‘affiliate player’ status removed. Bear is now a signed player on their 50-man protected list. The Cougars roster sits at 25 players: 16 forwards, seven defencemen, and two goaltenders.

–17-year-old forward Austin Gray of the Cariboo Cougars has been signed by the Portland Winterhawks. Gray leads the BCMML in scoring with 37 points (20 goals, 17 assists) in 19 games. He is expected to join the Winterhawks full-time next season.

–Goalie Jason LaBarbera of Prince George and P.G. Cougars minority owner Eric Brewer are on the Anaheim Ducks injured list. LaBarbera will be out 2-3 weeks with a broken bone in his hand while Brewer will be off the Ducks blue-line 4-6 weeks with a broken bone in his foot.

–The top two teams in the BCHL Mainland Division meet Friday and Saturday at the Prince George Coliseum as the Spruce Kings host the Chilliwack Chiefs. The Chiefs, riding a 5 game win streak, lead the Spruce Kings by three points. P.G. is three points ahead of 3rd place Langley.

–It’s first hosting worst in the BCMML. The 17-2-1 Cariboo Cougars entertain the 1-18-1 Thompson Blazers Saturday at 7:15pm and Sunday at 11:30am at Kin 1.

–The Alyssa Connell Prince George foursome (including 3rd Bailey Eberherr, 2nd Jordan Henson and Lead Erin Ross) has qualified for the Provincial Junior Women’s Curling Championship in Parksville. The eight team event runs December 28, 2014 – January 3, 2015.
