–The Prince George Cougars scored four unanswered goals in the second period to erase a 2-0 deficit and upset the WHL leading Kelowna Rockets 4-3. Chase Witala scored twice and added two assists while Ty Edmonds blocked 37 shots for the 14-15 Cougars who play tonight in Kamloops before hosting Saskatoon Tuesday.

–The P.G. Cougars traded 19-year-old defenceman Raymond Grewal to the Prince Albert Raiders in return for a 12th round Bantam Draft pick. Grewal, from Prince George, had been playing this season with the P.G. Spruce Kings. He dressed in 129 career games with the Cougars scoring one goal, adding 18 assists and 61 penalty minutes. Grewal will join the Raiders in time for their game tonight in Kelowna.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings built up a 3-0 lead and went on for a 5-2 victory over the Chilliwack Chiefs. Brogan O’Brien scored twice and Jesse Jenks made 31 saves for the Spruce Kings before 983 fans. The same two teams, separated by just one point in the standings, play again tonight at the PG Coliseum.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars put an 8-game win streak on the line when they host the last place Thompson Blazers tonight at 7:15 and Sunday morning at 11:30 at Kin 1.

–Megan Heinicke of Prince George had a career best 12th place finish in a biathlon World Cup race. Over 80 competed. The 26-year-old Heinicke, a two-time Olympian, was the top of four Canadians in the women’s 15-kilometre individual race in Ostersund, Sweden. “The key to success was being relaxed, not feeling any external pressure and truly being focused on a few key factors shooting,” said Heinicke.

Four archers, including two from Prince George, have been selected to compete for Team BC in archery at the 2015 Canada Winter Games. (Names are listed below)Tony Proctor – Male Compound (Prince George)
