PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

(WHL)

The Prince George Cougars conclude a three-game homestand with games tonight and tomorrow against the (7-4-2) Seattle Thunderbirds.

The Saturday game will be Mega 50/50 Jackpot and Pink in the Rink Night.

The Cougars have just two wins in eight CN Centre appearances this season (2-5-0-1).

Prince George is tied with the (6-6-0-1) Kamloops Blazers for third in the BC Division, one point ahead of the (6-10) Kelowna Rockets.

Seattle is fourth in the US Division but just four points out of first with two games in hand.

Forward Kjell Kjemhus is back with the PG Cougars, his second stint with the team.

The 17-year-old had one assist in 10 games with the Vernon Vipers.

Last season, Kjemhus notched four points (2G, 2A) in 25 games with Prince George.

The Cougars’ active roster now sits at 23-players: 14 forwards, seven defencemen and two goalies.

Additionally, defenceman Cam MacPhee is on the Injured Reserve with an upper-body injury.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

(BCHL)

The Prince George Spruce Kings welcome the (7-10-1) Alberni Valley Bulldogs to the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA) tonight.

The Spruce Kings also entertain the (9-6-0-2) Penticton Vees on Saturday.

Prince George is third in the Mainland Division, two points behind the Coquitlam Express and five back of the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The 12-6-0-1 Spruce Kings also host the (9-8-1) Langley Rivermen November 9th and 10th to wrap up a four-game homestand.

The 8-6 Vancouver Canucks conclude a four-game homestand tonight when they host the (7-4-2) Colorado Avalanche.

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

(BCMML)

The Cariboo Cougars visit the (2-7-1) South Island Royals Saturday night at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 8:30.

The 5-3-2 Major Midget Cougars are in sixth place in the BCMML, but just four points out of first.

 

PG MIDGET HOCKEY:

BC Hockey’s Midget AA North Central Bobcats host the Okanagan Central team Saturday afternoon at 12:30 and Sunday morning at 8:45 in Kin 1.

 

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

(Canada West Basketball)

The UNBC Timberwolves have their Canada West women’s and men’s basketball home openers at the Northern Sport Centre.

The Timberwolves host the Winnipeg Wesmen tonight at 6 and 8 and Saturday evening at 5 and 7.

Both UNBC teams are 2-0.

Winnipeg is 0-2 in the women’s division and 1-1 in the men’s standings.

(Canada West Soccer)

Francesco Bartolillo, the all-time leading goal scorer in UNBC Men’s soccer history, has won the Canada West Student-Athlete Community Service award.

Along with coaching youth soccer, and founding a soccer tennis tournament to benefit KidSport BC, Bartolillo created the Timberwolves Student-Athlete Society.

The four-time Academic All-Canadian led the Timberwolves this season in scoring with 10 points, including six goals.

Defender Gordon Hall and forward Paige Payne of the UNBC Timberwolves have been named to the Canada West all-star soccer teams.

Hall becomes the first UNBC player selected to a Canada West first all-star team.

Payne, who scored a team-high eight goals, was chosen to the women’s second all-star team.

CURLING:

Curling Canada officially announced that Kingston, Ontario would host the 2020 Brier.

Prince George was one of three other cities that bid for the Canadian men’s curling championship.

 

NFL: (Start of Week Nine)

San Francisco  34  Oakland  3

Quarterback Nick Mullens, in his first start, threw for 262 yards and three touchdowns.

The 49’ers are 2-7 while the Raiders fell to 1-7.

There are 11 NFL games Sunday, including the 8-0 LA Rams at the 6-1 New Orleans Saints.

 

CFL:

This is the final weekend of the CFL regular season.

The only game of significance has Calgary at the B.C. Lions Saturday night.

The 12-5 Stamps need a win or a tie to end up first and receive an opening-round bye.

The 9-8 Lions will finish fourth and play at Hamilton in the East semi-final.
