Tickets for the 2019 Kiwanis Alefest go on sale Saturday morning at 8am through its website.
The fifth annual event is a community fundraiser where people can sample craft beer from across BC and also includes things like food and silent auctions.
While local breweries will be featured, Marketing Communications and Tickets Lead, Eric Ball, says there will be a strong presence from other northern BC communities too.
“We are going to be inviting new ones like, for example, Smithers Brewing and the Bulkley Valley Brewery, both out of Smithers, are going to be coming. Might Peace in Fort St. John is going to be bringing their beer to Prince George for the very first time for Kiwanis Alefest as well.”
Ball says other participating breweries will be announced in the next couple weeks.
The Alefest has grown in popularity within the northern capital over the years, however, not so much in terms of drawing people to Prince George. Tourism BC CEO Erica Hummel says this has the potential to change.
“Things like the ale trails and all of the tourism products based on culinary, wineries, and breweries are growing significantly all over the United States and Canada. So there is huge potential for more and more of those types of festivals and products and tours.”
The Kiwanis Alefest is January 25th and 26th.
