PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

Prince George Cougars  4 Seattle Thunderbirds  1

The Cougars ended a four-game losing skid thanks to superb goaltending from Isaiah DiLaura and four unanswered goals in the first.

DiLaura made 21 saves losing his shutout bid with just 38 seconds left in the game before 2,372 fans.

Josh Maser scored 41 seconds into the game, Joel Lakusta and Tyson Upper tallied on the power play and Vladislav Mikhalchuk also found the net for the Cats, who outshot the Thunderbirds 33-22.

It was just the third P.G. win on home ice this season (3-5-0-1).

The same teams play again this evening at CN Centre.

There will be a Mega 50/50 Jackpot on Pink in the Rink night.

The (6-7-1-2) Cougars are in third place in the BC Division, a point ahead of the (6-6-1-1) Kamloops Blazers and three in front of the (6-10) Kelowna Rockets.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

Prince George Spruce Kings  2  Alberni Valley Bulldogs  1

Corey Cunningham and Craig MacDonald of Prince George scored for the Spruce Kings, who outshot the Bulldogs 45-19 before 907 fans at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena (RMCA).

The 13-6-0-1 Spruce Kings host the (10-6-0-2) Penticton Vees tonight.

Prince George is third in the Mainland Division, two points behind the Coquitlam Express and five back of the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The Spruce Kings also host the (9-9-1) Langley Rivermen November 9th and 10th to wrap up a four-game homestand.

(Rookie Elias Pettersson (two goals, three assists) and Brock Boeser (two goals, two assists) combined for nine points to lead the 9-6 Canucks who won their third straight game)

The Saturday NHL menu includes five Canadian teams in action: Calgary hosts Chicago, Edmonton visits Detroit, Toronto is at Pittsburgh, Montreal entertains Tampa Bay and Ottawa faces off in Buffalo.

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

The Cariboo Cougars are in Saanich to play the (2-7-1) South Island Royals tonight at 6:30 and Sunday morning at 8:30.

The 5-3-2 Major Midget Cougars are in sixth place in the BCMML, but just four points out of first.

 

PG MIDGET HOCKEY:

BC Hockey’s Midget AA North Central Bobcats host the Okanagan Central team this afternoon at 12:30 and Sunday morning at 8:45 in Kin 1.
