PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

Vancouver Giants  2  Prince George Cougars  1  

Trent Miner blocked 32 shots, including 17 in the third period to lead the (13-3-2) Giants.

Connor Bowie (1st goal) gave Prince George a 1-0 lead after one.

Vancouver scored twice in the middle period 3:23 apart.

The Cougars have been outscored 19-6 in the second period this season.

The 7-8-1-2 Cougars visit the Western Conference leading Giants again this afternoon at 2 in Langley.

The Giants lead the BC Division and Western Conference standings.

The Cougars are third in the BC Division, a point ahead of Kelowna and three in front of Kamloops.

The Rockets lost Saturday night in Portland 3-0 to the Winterhawks.

 

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

Langley Rivermen  2  Prince George Spruce Kings  1 (Saturday)

Braedon Fleming made 37 saves for the Rivermen before 958 fans at the RMCA.

Fleming lost his shutout bid with 56 seconds left in the game on a goal by Nick Bochen.

The 15-7-0-1 Spruce Kings are tied with the Coquitlam Express for second in the Mainland Division, three points behind the Chilliwack Chiefs.

Prince George will play its next three on the Island: Friday in Powell River, Saturday in Alberni Valley and Sunday, Nov. 18th in Nanaimo.

The Spruce Kings next home game will be played on Wednesday, Nov. 21st against Trail.

Dustin Manz notched a hat trick and added two assists before 1,137 hometown fans.

The 8-3-2 Cariboo Cougars have won six straight.

Same two teams meet again this morning at 10 in Kelowna.

UNBC TIMBERWOLVES:

The UNBC Timberwolves had the bye this weekend in Canada West basketball.

The Timberwolves return to action Friday and Saturday at the Northern Sport Centre against the Trinity Western University (TWU) Spartans.

The UNBC women are 4-0 while the men sit 3-1.

TWU is 6-0 (women) and 0-6 (men).
