(Madison Landry of the Timberwolves led all scorers with 25 points as she went 11-11 from the field, The UNBC women are 5-0 while the 6-1 TWU women suffered their first loss)

(Canada West men’s basketball)

UNBC Timberwolves  101  TWU Spartans  58
(The UNBC men improve to 4-1 while the TWU men remain winless at 0-7)

The same teams play again tonight at the Northern Sport Centre in the Timberwolves final “home” games until the New Year.

The women tip off at 5 followed by the men at 7.

PRINCE GEORGE SPRUCE KINGS:

(BCHL)

Prince George Spruce Kings  3  Powell River Kings  0

Logan Neaton made 16 saves for the shutout and Ben Brar scored twice and added an assist.

The Spruce Kings visit the (8-15-1) Alberni Valley Bulldogs tonight and the (10-13) Nanaimo Clippers Sunday.

The 15-7-0-1 Spruce Kings are in second place in the Mainland Division, two points ahead of the Coquitlam Express and three points behind the Chilliwack Chiefs.

The next home game for the Spruce Kings will be played on Wednesday against the Trail Smoke Eaters.


PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS:

(WHL)

The Prince George Cougars, who have won their last three “home” games, entertain the (6-9-1-1) Kamloops Blazers tonight at 7 and Sunday afternoon at 2.

It’s the first meetings of the season between the two teams.

The 9-8-1-2 Cougars are 2nd in the B.C. Division, a point ahead of Victoria, although the Royals have four games in hand.

Prince George is also four points in front of Kelowna and seven ahead of last-place Kamloops.

The Cougars are coming off a 4-3 OT victory over the Rockets as Josh Maser scored with just
six seconds left in overtime.

 

CARIBOO COUGARS:

(BCMML)

The 9-3-2 Cariboo Cougars visit the (7-5-1-1) Greater Vancouver Canadians tonight at 5 and Sunday morning at 10 in Richmond.

The Major Midget Cougars are riding a seven-game win streak.

The Prince George based team is in fourth place, but just a point behind second and third, and only three points back of the (11-2-1) first place Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

 

CARIBOO COUGARS MINOR MIDGET: (in Chase)

Cariboo Cougars Minor Midget team (15-year-olds)  3  Thompson Blazers  2   (OT)

The same teams play again this afternoon at 2 and Sunday morning at 10 in Chase.

The Cariboo 15-year-olds are 8-1-1 and tied with the Okanagan Rockets for first place.

NHL: (Two Canadian teams in action Friday)

The 10-9-2 Vancouver Canucks try to end a four-game losing streak when they host the 10-6-3 Montreal Canadiens today at 4 p.m.

 

BC HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL:

Double-A Varsity:

The PGSS Polars high-school football team will play the No. 2-ranked Holy Cross Crusaders of Surrey today at noon at B.C. Place Stadium.

The winner advances to the B.C. High School football Double-A Varsity semi-finals.

UPDATE at 2PM Saturday: Holy Cross beat PGSS 47-6

Junior Varsity:

The College Heights Cougars will play in the Junior Varsity semi-finals against the Windsor Dukes Wednesday afternoon at 2 at Hillside Stadium in Kamloops.


CFL:

(Division Finals)

Hamilton Tiger-Cats  at  Ottawa RedBlacks (Sunday 10 a.m. PT)
Winnipeg Blue Bombers  at  Calgary Stampeders (Sunday 1:30 p.m.)

The winners meet in the Grey Cup on Sunday, November 25th in Edmonton.

NFL: (week 11)

There are 11 NFL games on Sunday including Philadelphia at New Orleans. The Saints have won eight in a row.

Six teams have the week 11 bye including the entire AFC East plus Cleveland and San Francisco.

 

NBA:

Boston  123  Toronto  116  (OT)

Third straight loss for the 12-4 Raptors who play tonight in Chicago.

They also visit Orlando Tuesday and Atlanta Wednesday on a four-game trip.

 

SWIMMING:

The Prince George Barracudas are hosting their annual Medical Northern Sprint swim meet today (9-3) and Sunday (9-2) at the Aquatic Centre.

Six out of town teams are joining the Barracudas. They are Quesnel, Williams Lake, Richmond, Chetwynd, Points North, and Grande Prairie.

 

BIATHLON:

Megan Tandy of Prince George is back on the women’s senior national one biathlon team that will compete on the World Cup Tour.

The 30-year-old Tandy re-captured her spot by winning the Canadian trials in Canmore, Alberta.

She will leave Canada early next week for training camp in Austria and will then travel to Slovenia, back to Austria, and to the Czech Republic for competitions before taking a break for the holidays.

Both Sarah Beaudry of Prince George and Emily Dickson of Burns Lake will compete for Canada on the IBU Cup women’s biathlon team.
