City Council preview: November 26th, 2018

The hot topic on the agenda for the next Prince George City Council meeting is proposed traffic changes on Highway 97 and 22nd Avenue.

Following the death of a CNC student earlier this year, the city and the school have been working to make the area safer by removing the sidewalk from CNC to the decommissioned bus stop, on-campus signage and among other initiatives, installation of a fence in the centre of the median along Highway 97.

Should they be approved, traffic pattern changes will mean that northbound traffic from Westwood Drive wouldn’t be allowed to enter the intersection at Westwood and 22nd Avenue and instead would have to take the on-ramp east of the overpass on Massey Drive.

Also on the docket, Bailey Hoefels of Trench Brewing and Distilling will be asking to extend their liquor licensing hours, while the Canadian Brew House and Grill would like to up their seating capacity from 298 to 360.

Council will also be appointing representatives for a number of external organizations, including the Canadian Urban Transit Association, Prince George Council of Seniors and the Prince George Community Foundation Board of Directors.
