–The Prince George Cougars four game win streak came to an end with a 3-2 loss to the Spokane Chiefs. The Chiefs winning tally, from Liam Stewart, came with 4:04 left, the only goal of the third period. Marc McNulty scored both goals for the 17-16 Cougars, who dropped a one goal game for the first time this season. The Chiefs and Cats meet again Tuesday and Wednesday at CN Centre.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings outshot the Cowichan Valley Capitals 43-36 but the Caps won the game 5-1. Cowichan put the game away with three unanswered goals in the third period before 993 fans at the PG Coliseum. It was the final home game in 2014 for the Spruce Kings, who visit Langley Thursday, Surrey Friday and Coquitlam Saturday.

–The Major Midget Cariboo Cougars won their 11th straight game, 7-1 over the North Island Silvertips in the first of a doubleheader. The rematch goes today (8:30am) at Kin 1.

–The Prince George Northern Cougars female midget hockey team doubled the Shaftesbury Titans 4-2. The Northern Cougars are 3-1-1 at the Notre Dame Hounds tournament in Wilcox, Saskatchewan.

–The College Heights Cougars outscored the Cedars Christian Eagles 46-32 in the final of the DP Todd senior girls basketball tournament.

–The Canadian biathlon team of Sarah Beaudry and Megan Heinicke of Prince George along with Rosanna Crawford
of Canmore and Quebec’s Audrey Vaillancourt placed 11th out of 23 in the women’s 4×6 kilometre relay at a
biathlon World Cup relay race in Hochfilzen, Austria.
