Eight teams, including Patti Knezevic of Prince George, have qualified for the 2015 Scotties BC Women’s Curling Championship. The triple knockout competition, with a page playoff, will be held January 21-25 at the Golden Ears Winter Club. Knezevic’s team includes third Kristen Fewster, second Jen Rusnell and lead Rhonda Camozz. They earned their spot at an open event in Kelowna. Others advancing to the Provincials are defending champion Kesa Van Osch of Nanaimo, Kelly Scott of Kelowna, Kristy Lewis of Royal City, Sarah Wark of Duncan, Amanda Russett of Kamloops, Diane Gushulak of Vancouver and Dailene Sivertson of Victoria.

–The Prince George Cougars host the Spokane Chiefs tonight and Wednesday in their final action prior to the WHL Christmas break.

–The Prince George Spruce Kings visit Langley Thursday, Surrey Friday and Coquitlam Saturday.

–The Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars visit the Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday and Sunday in Richmond and Delta.

–Northern Cougars sniper Ava Keis of Quesnel has a four year scholarship agreement to Nipissing University in Thunder Bay, Ontario starting in the fall of 2015. Keis is tied for the scoring lead in the B.C. female midget triple A league. The Northern Cougars host the Vancouver Island Hurricanes this weekend in Prince George.

–The 12th annual high school hockey “Spirit Game” between PGSS and College Heights Secondary will be played Friday at 12:30 at CN Centre.

–Duchess Park hosts its annual Christmas Classic senior basketball tournament Thursday and Friday.
