Jesse Jenks made 44 saves to lead the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 3-1 victory over the Langley Rivermen. Jake LeBrun scored twice (the last into an empty net) and added an assist for the Spruce Kings who snapped a three-game losing streak. Langley outshot Prince George 45-37. The 18-13-0-3 Spruce Kings are two points behind Langley and seven back of BCHL Mainland Division leading Chilliwack. They continue on the road tonight in Surrey and Saturday in Coquitlam.

–The Prince George Cougars are 17-18 as of the WHL Christmas break. They are 3rd in the BC Division, three points behind Victoria, two ahead of Vancouver and three in front of last place Kamloops.

–The P.G. Cougars play their next games Dec 27th and 28th in Victoria. The Cats next home games will take place Jan 6th and 7th against the Tri-City Americans.

–The PGSS-College Heights Secondary 12th annual “Spirit” high school hockey game will be played today at 12:30 at CN Centre. Over 1,500 students are expected to attend. In the “Spirit” of giving, PGSS is collecting food for St. Vincent DePaul Society while College Heights is collecting funds for the Salvation Army.

–The (21-2-1) Major Midget leading Cariboo Cougars visit the Greater Vancouver Canadians Saturday and Sunday in Richmond and Delta. In each of their past dozen games (all wins), the Cougars have allowed just one goal or less.

–The Prince George based Northern Cougars female midget hockey team entertains the Vancouver Island Hurricanes Saturday at 8:45am and 4:40pm at Kin 1 and Sunday at 8am at Kin 2.

–Two Prince George athletes competed at a women’s World Cup biathlon sprint race in Pokljuka, Slovenia. Megan Heinicke finished 41st and Sarah Beaudry placed 66th.

–Eight Biathletes, including four from Prince George, have been named to Team BC for the 2015 Canada Winter Games.(Selected from P.G. are: Arthur Roots, Bobby Kreitz, Emily Dickson and Claire Lapointe).

–The Duchess Park senior boys and senior girls Christmas classic basketball tournament concludes today. Opening day results are listed below:
