WHL: (PRINCE GEORGE COUGARS)
The Prince George Cougars have four games in five nights at CN Centre.
The Cougars host the (27-23-1-2) Victoria Royals tonight and Saturday and the Western Conference leading
(38-13-1-2) Everett Silvertips Monday and Tuesday.
The Royals are coming off Wednesday’s 6-1 loss in Kamloops.
Victoria has won three of the four regular season meetings against Prince George.
The Cougars are riding a 13-game losing skid (0-10-3), the longest streak in the WHL this season.
They are 0-2 since general manager Mark Lamb replaced Richard Matvichuk as head coach.
The 16-32-4-2 Cougars are last in the Western Conference, nine points behind the (21-27-4-1) Kamloops Blazers and 10 back of the (21-27-5-1) Seattle Thunderbirds.
The Thunderbirds hold down the final wild-card playoff spot.

Prince George Spruce Kings 5 West Kelowna Warriors 2
Ben Brar scored three goals and Patrick Cozzi picked up three assists to lead the Spruce Kings to their 9th straight victory before 1,066 fans at the RMCA.
The 36-12-1-5 Spruce Kings are second in the Mainland Division, five points behind the (41-12-1) Chilliwack Chiefs.
Both Prince George and Chilliwack have four regular season games left, including three against each other.
The Chiefs, who have also won nine in a row, host Nanaimo Saturday and P.G. Sunday.

The (26-26-7) Canucks are tied with the (27-25-5) Minnesota Wild for the final wild-card playoff spot but Minnesota has two games in hand.
Vancouver is just two points ahead of Colorado and Chicago.
The Canucks conclude a three-game California swing Saturday in San Jose.

The Cariboo Cougars entertain the 9th place (9-22-1) South Island Royals Saturday afternoon at 4:00 and Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m. at Kin 1.
The 20-7-5 Major Midget Cougars are tied with (21-10-1-2) Okanagan for 3rd place in the 11-team league.
They are three points back of the (21-7-4-2) Vancouver NE Chiefs and five behind the (24-6-1-1) Fraser Valley Thunderbirds.

CANADA WEST WOMEN’S BASKETBALL:
The UNBC Timberwolves visit the Calgary Dinos tonight in game one of the best-of-three Canada West women’s basketball quarterfinals.
Game two will also be played in Calgary Saturday with the if necessary game on Sunday.
The Dinos had the first round bye after finishing the regular season 17-3 and on a 15-game win streak.
The Timberwolves are coming off their first-ever Canada West women’s basketball playoff victory, 80-78 over the Trinity Western Spartans in Langley.

PARA NORDIC SKIING:
The World Para Nordic Skiing Championships begin with the Opening Ceremonies tonight at 7:00 at the Prince George Civic Centre.
Competition runs from Saturday to February 24th at the Caledonia Nordic Ski Club on Otway Road.
118 men and women athletes from 19 countries compete in four cross-country skiing and four biathlon events.
Canada is represented by 11 athletes and three guides, including three athletes from B.C.
The participants are grouped into three classes: sitting, standing, and visually impaired.

The Canada Winter Games will be held in Red Deer starting with the Opening Ceremonies tonight.
Closing Ceremonies are scheduled for March 2nd.
Nine Prince George athletes compete (four in speedskating, two in judo and one each in alpine skiing, snowboard and wheelchair basketball.

CURLING:
The National Scotties Tournament of Hearts will begin Saturday and run through until February 24th in Sydney, Nova Scotia.
B.C. is represented by skip Sarah Wark of Abbotsford and her rink that has ties to Prince George.
Third Kristen Fewster Pilote is a former Prince George resident who now lives in Squamish.
Her sister, Jen Rusnell of P.G., is the lead.
Rick Fewster of Prince George (dad of Pilote and Rusnell) is the coach.
The Wark team qualified after winning provincials in Quesnel.
B.C. will play its first game Saturday against Nova Scotia.

PG LACROSSE:
The Prince George Senior Lacrosse Association is gearing up for its 29th season.
The league holds its Annual General Meeting Sunday from Noon to 4:00 downstairs at the Masonic Hall, 480 Vancouver Street.
The Draft of Graduating Midget Players will follow the AGM.
NBA:
The 43-16 Toronto Raptors entered the NBA All-Star break on a six-game win streak.
They have the second best record in the Eastern Conference (and NBA), one game behind the (43-14) Milwaukee Bucks.
The Raptors don’t play again until February 22nd when they host the (33-26) San Antonio Spurs.
